Lego Sumo (For Competitors Born in 2006 and Before)

This document describes the rules for LEGO Sumo robots. Rules are based on Baltic Robot Sumo Rules.

Robot classes

Only autonomous robots are represented in the following classes in Robotex’s Sumo competition:

Definition

One operator and two assistants can be registered for each robot (3 team members in total). However, only the operator is allowed to steer the robot. Both competitors must abide by the competition rules, the terms and conditions of winning, and participate in the predetermined Dohyo area using only self-made autonomous robots. The winner is announced by the jury.

Format

The competition format is established by the tournament organizers, depending on the number of participants. If the number of participants is high, the subgroups will be used to decide who will participate in the final tournament. Finals are held in a double elimination tournament format. If the number of participants is low, all competitors will immediately compete in the final tournament format.

Cost per team and robot: €50 + KDV

Lego Line Follower
(Primary School-Middle School Age)

The task for the line following the robots is to move as fast as possible along the track marked with a black line. Two robots compete with each other on parallel mirror tracks. Robots must be made from LEGOs.

3KG LEGO SUMO
Definition

Folkrace -Car Racing
(For All Age Groups)

The aim of the competition is to emulate the immersive nature of rallycross. Up to five robots are allowed to access the runway at the same time.

Mini Sumo
(For All Age Groups)

The mini sumo robot has to push his opponent out of the ring while following all the competition rules.

Micro Sumo
Definition

One operator and two assistants can be registered for each robot (3 team members in total). However, the robot
only operator guidance is allowed. Both contestants abide by the rules of the competition to win.

The 3 kg sumo robot has to remove its opponent from the ring, following all competition rules. Competitions are for all age groups.

Maze solving

(For All Age Groups)

In this competition, your robot’s task is to get to the finish point on a maze from a certain corner to the center in the shortest time possible.

Line Follower

Line tracking is one of the most popular robotics competitions in the world. For line following robots

Girls Firefighting

Robotex Firefighting is a competition for all females around the world to encourage them to
partake and learn about technology and engineering.

The object of the competition is to create a robot that can locate and extinguishing 4 randomly
placed candles, without touching them, inside a field outlined by a black line.
The aim of the firefighting competition is to raise more engineers and IT-specialists. We have
taken it for our mission to change the ratio of boys and girls, in the ordinary robotics
competition fields. We hope to see many eager participants, whose passion for robotics,
technology, programming, electronics, mechanics and everything digital era related, would
carry on and give courage to all the women and girls in the world!

Robo Explorer ( Prepared in cooperation with Robotex Turkey-Robotex Iran.)

Competition

These competitions are for competitors aged 12 and over.
